Heat Pump Installation

Done Right, Priced Right

Heat Pump installation

For climates with moderate heating and cooling needs, heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house and during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide equivalent space conditioning at as little as one quarter of the cost of operating conventional heating or cooling appliances.

What is a Heat pump system?

At RKM Heating and Air conditioning we install, service, and maintain all makes and models of heat pump systems. All heat pump systems  are not alike, and there are many different factors to consider when choosing a new heat pump system. Here are some basic terms to help you familiarize yourself when looking into a new air conditioning system.

  • SEER :- In air conditioning systems, the efficiency is determined by the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficient Ratio); the annual efficiency of a central air conditioner or air conditioner heat pump. The higher the SEER, the more energy efficient the system is, and the lower the operating costs.
  • Condenser Coil :- This is also known as an outdoor coil. This piece of the air conditioner removes heat from refrigerant in vapor form. When the heat is removed, the refrigerant becomes liquid and moves back to the inside of the machine.
  • Compressor :- The compressor is usually located on the outside portion of the air conditioner. The compressor motor is a pump which moves the refrigerant from the indoor evaporator coil to the outside condenser coil and then back to the evaporator coil again.
  • Evaporator Coil :- The evaporator coil is located on the inside of the house. The coil takes heat and moisture out of the indoor air as it crosses over the coils, reversing refrigerant from liquid to gas.
  • Refrigerant :- The chemical used to cool air. Refrigerant expands to vapor form, gathering hot air, and then contracts to liquid form to cool the air.
  • Single-Stage :- Like a light switch, a single-stage air conditioner is either on or off. When your home’s temperature rises above your thermostat’s setting, it turns on 100% until your comfort level is reached and then turns off completely.
  • Two-Stage :- A two-stage air conditioner is more like a fan switch: it can be off, on, or at a medium speed. When your air conditioner only needs to cool your home a few degrees, it uses its “lower gear” to accomplish the task more efficiently. And when the cooling load is more strenuous, it uses its higher speed to cool your home quickly.

Don’t forget about your heating and air conditioning comfort system. Your Heat pump system is most likely the most expensive appliance in your home and provides you with the comfort you expect in your home. Just like your automobile it requires regular maintenance to keep it running properly and efficiently. RKM Heating air wants your investment to last. Lets face it, its in your best interest and ours that you system work properly and your warranties stay valid. We want you to be happy and comfortable with your decision knowing that we will stand behind our work for years to come.

Comfort Club Maintenance is great way to do this.
